Try A Float At White Spa - Sans Pareil

Try A Float At White Spa

1

HER:  You simply have GOT to try a float.
ME:
A what?
HER: A float. In a floatation tank. At White Spa on Jervois Road.
ME:
Oh. Why?
HER: Cos the tank is filled with magnesium sulfate. It’s really good for you.
ME:
For me?
HER: For everyone. 90% of people are magnesium deficient.
ME:
What’s so great about magnesium?
HER: It is needed by the body for heaps of stuff. It helps with insomnia, tiredness, muscle aches and strains, pain and skin conditions.
ME:
Can’t I just take a supplement?
HER: That’s not as effective, the stomach acid destroys a lot of supplements taken orally. All the sports people rave about it.
ME: I don’t do sports.
HER:
It’s not just for sports people! I sent my grandmother along to relieve the pain in her joints. I discovered it when I was pregnant. It was a saviour.
ME: How come?
HER:
I couldn’t sleep but was exhausted. I lacked energy and just quietly I was super constipated.
ME: Um, thanks for that. So did you fall asleep in the tank?
HER:
Some people do, it’s very relaxing. But I actually find it very energising, I always bounce out of there like Kevin Spacey at the end of The Usual Suspects.
ME: So it’s like a bath that you lie down in.
HER:
No! It’s like lying down in the Dead Sea. You are virtually weightless in the water, which is warm. And it’s in a pod, you close the lid.
ME: Like a coffin? I wouldn’t like that.
HER:
Not at all like a coffin. Like a very large spa pool with a dome lid. But you don’t have to put the lid down if you don’t want to. There is loads of space inside.
ME: I don’t like the dark.
HER:
It has light therapy as well. Beautiful coloured lights that gently change. Are you tired?
ME:
Like, very.
HER:
An hour in the tank is like 8 hours of sleep.
ME:
That is incredible.
HER:
Yes, so you go. Go!
ME: Maybe this weekend.
HER:
You just dyed your hair. You can’t go when you have just dyed your hair. Or had a spray tan. That keeps the tanks super hygienic. Give them a call to book and tell them it’s your first float, they will fill you in.

ME:
So I went for a float.
HER:
OMG, and?
ME:
I really liked it. It was very relaxing.
HER:
Have you only been once?
ME:
Yeah, but I will go again.
HER:
Good, because you should really have at least 3 floats to sort out your magnesium levels.
ME: I have been feeling very chill. I liked the lights as well. I think it would really help some people I know too.
HER:
Soon you will be like me, a convert telling everyone the good news.
ME:
Umm, maybe.
