SP: Tell me about this exhibition as if I was a total novice:

CP: It started as just an idea with a fellow artist I met on Instagram. Our photography blogs collided.

SP: What do you mean collided?

CP: I run another Instagram page called Humans Of The Future where I took the concept of Humans Of K Rd but instead of asking people questions about themselves, I get them to share positive advice or sustainable ideas. I was going to feature this artist on there. Then we skyped a few times – next minute we are meeting up in Mexico and launching this idea!

SP: Tell me about this idea. It’s very unique.

CP: the initial idea was to give artists and a family member half an object each and say complete the one side of the drawing each, without seeing each others’. Another thing t o throw in there is “imagine the object is in another universe where anything is possible”. We added that bit because we wanted people to be as creative as possible and think outside the box.

From there it evolved. We wanted to see what a skilled artist would present and someone who didn’t have those skills. However, we found that lots of people had artists as family members. So instead we were getting heaps of cool stuff!

SP: What can we expect from this exhibition?

CP: I can actually guarantee that you will have creative inspiration. You’ll come out feeling more creative than ever!

SP: Seeing as you also do Humans OF K Rd – will you be tieing it in?

CP: Yeah! May as well group all my resources together.

SP: Does that mean you’ll continue with Humans Of K Rd in the future?

CP: At the moment, I’m done, just because I have moved to Sydney and it took SO much work. I loved it, and it taught me heaps, but it’s so much to put into something and not get paid for it. I was super dedicated for 2 years, content with keeping the content going. It did open up a lot of doors and I
met so many awesome people. And K Rd really got me into photography too.

The word creative seems to be such a huge theme for you. What is it about this word?

CP: Great question. Once I started doing the whole goals setting thing and achieving some pretty big goals in my life, I wanted to figure out what intrinsically inspired me. Ideas and creation are things that inspire me. So I wanted to set all my short and mid term goals around creativity.

There you have it!
