SilenceWas x Bespoke Dresser n-n Supporting your local

Last week I popped along to a fun, little event hosted by Yvette Hopkins a.k.a The Bespoker Dresser  and local label SilenceWas. I caught up with Yvette a few days before and she told me the reason for the event itself was to celebrate the ‘Little Local’ and use it as an excuse to get to know our local shop keepers and designers. This is an extremely important thing to do – with ‘fast fashion’ cornering most of the market these days, it’s crucial to support New Zealand and quality made, as well as the people that still produce both.
I have to say it was pretty cool, usually these parties are quiet – standing around with a wine – which is cool, but can get boring fast. This was different because there were spot prizes (I didn’t win anything boo :'( ) and crazy desserts (see image 3) and a mini runway show with all of the models being local enterprising women. Also, the sponsors were all local which was very cool! (All the hats featured on the runway, as well as one of the prizes was by local shop Hattitude (Which is Auckland’s only purely hat retailer).
