Last week, I got to sit down and interview Shanan Kiritea Halbert, the Northcote Labour Canadiate. Now, this isn’t a basic news site, so I’m not going to lie to you – I am left wing so yes, this has article has a bias to it.
Politics is something I hold with an importance. You don’t need to be fully informed ( I mean that would be great, but who honestly is? I can’t say I know every policy inside out) but it’s SO important to have some idea about how you want your city/country/planet to be run. Because unfortunately, if you don’t know what the powers at be are doing you will end up in a very shit situation *cough*America*cough*.
I love this video by Greens Candidate, Chlöe Swarbrick (huge, huge fan)
If you're young, you have more power in this election than you might think.

I think it’s so important to bring the elections back to the youth, just because someone is older than you, doesn’t mean they automatically know more. They might, but they might not. They might have been stuck in old, stagnant ways for decades.
On that note, here is my interview with Shanan Kiritea Halbert.
I like Shanan, as soon as you meet him, you get that he cares about people. He really cares.
He comes from a big, rural family and background in Education. Growing up he was one of many brothers and sisters who had two hard working parents. He moved to Auckland like many Kiwi’s, in pursuit of University. His upbringing and family could be that of so many of us. He gets it. He knows what it means to be working class, to sometimes struggle to make ends meet.
If you can say anything about him, it’s that he’s genuine.
Here is what he has to say:
He’s a HUGE advocate for mental health:
Regardless of who you vote for, get out and vote! It really does make a difference, Check these stats:
