At Sans Pareil we love nothing more than to bring you an emerging new label, especially a homegrown label that wants to make a difference.
Papua New Guinea born Dru Douglas’ main goal is to give back to the women of his home country who helped inspire the pieces he created. His aim is to support initiatives in PNG that support and empower women.
Dru uses influences of traditional dress and western styles to create his own wearable and quirky cross cultural aesthetic. He says “the combination tells a tale of globalization, empowerment and identity that invokes visions of Papua New Guinea”
Dru grew up in PNG and came to New Zealand after being awarded a scholarship to study technology. After completing his degree and working in IT for seven years he returned to Uni to follow his dream of studying fashion. He graduated in 2014 after studying in both Auckland and Amsterdam and his label Lumai launched at the end of last year.
