Emma Raho reviews Weleda Gentle Cleansing Milk, Soothing Facial Oil and White Mallow Face Cream.
It’s pretty well documented that I have a face full of the worst behaved skin ever. Redness, spots, and flipping out every time I try something new are its favourite tricks to play. Although my skin has improved a lot since I’ve been getting professional help for it, I still need to be super careful about the products I slap on.
Weleda has been around since 1921 so in that time they have learned a thing or two about what makes amazing skincare. All their facial care products are created using carefully selected organic, natural ingredients meaning all their products are super gentle and effective. So how do their plant based formulas stack up when we test them out?
First of all I’ll be taking my day face off with the Gentle Cleansing Milk with witch hazel. I love the thick blue glass bottle it’s in. I’m pretty sure it hasn’t changed since the ‘80s and I got a little rush of nostalgia as I pulled it out of the box. It smells very herbal, which is great as I really don’t like anything that smells super synthetic. The top of the bottle is quite wide and in my enthusiasm I managed to pour it all over myself and the sink, Whoops! So watch out for that. The cleanser was a great consistency and amazing at removing the remains of my make up. My skin was definitely squeaky clean without feeling dry or tight
So far so good
Next I applied the White Mallow Face Cream. This is technically a baby product however as it has a tick from the National Eczema Association it’s also good for calming easily irritated adult skin too. It has a very subtle fragrance and and is quite thick and creamy. This probably isn’t great for under makeup but a perfect night cream or going barefaced in the colder weather.
I’m finishing off with the Almond Soothing Facial Oil. Again in my favourite retro blue, glass bottle, however as with the first bottle, the top isn’t really ideal, however the oil itself is great. I loved how it dried down so you don’t end up with a super greasy face and has no fragrance at all. I concentrated on my cheek and forehead area, leaving my nose, chin and eye area out. Also a great product for silky soft lips, hands and feet
I feel like these products would be ideal for teens and an essential travel kit for those with sensitive skin. I loved how clean and supple my skin felt after use and I will definitely be keeping these products in the bathroom ready to go.
