New Zealand Fashion Week 2019 is landing this coming Monday the 26 August and will be running until 1 September at Auckland Town Hall and Aotea Square. This is a change from the regular Viaduct location and we’re so excited to see how the new venues work out. In addition to being pumped for the changes, we’re also pretty amping for the following…
– Emerging trends. This is what NZFW is all about after all. We’re looking forward to seeing some fresh street wear along with some inspiring art.
– Sustainability. Fashion is becoming a lot more aware of the impact the textiles industry has on the environment. It’s great to see designers moving forward with recycled and locally made fabrics.
– New and established designers. I love how the new grad shows juxtapose against iconic brands such Trelise Cooper and Stolen Girlfriends Club. Fresh eyes alongside experience hands make sure all style bases are covered.
– Street fashion. Some incredible, creative and beautiful people attend the shows and the fashion inspo doesn’t just happen on the catwalk. Incredible looks can be seen in the crowds milling around the foyers and after parties. Stay locked to Sans Pareil on Insta and Facebook to see the best street style looks as they happen.
– Seeing a diverse range of models. There is a big push by NZFW to include models with access needs on the catwalk and we’re so here for it!! In an interview with Newshub 20 year old Grace Stratton said “There are more than 400 models at the casting call and more and more designers are asking for a diverse selection that includes models who have access needs – which means a different look behind-the-scenes too”. We can’t wait to see everyone represented on the catwalk! For the full story check out the link here
