Rocky Star’s Spring Summer 2020 collection tells the story of a sunset on a summer’s day in the glorious Mughal gardens of India. It paints a scene of the fading sunlight against the colourful, fragrant flowers in full bloom as the garden slowly changes from light to dusk.
The collection unfolds like petals under the sun, to reveal subtle detailing accented by Indian paisley prints that remind us of of 18th-century Mughal textures. Sparkling sequins provide pops of gold and silver. Eastern tradition meets western silhouettes in the intricate cord work and layered texturing that appear both in day and evening wear.
There is a sophisticated and contemporary elegance in the pleated skirts, draped dresses, and tunics alongside bomber jackets, deconstructed blazers, and T-shirts. Summer friendly pieces that are oversized and fuss-free are embellished with dramatic ruffles, and exaggerated collars in sheer gathered tulle, delicate satin, and Chanderi cotton. An earthy colour palette of hazy beige and soil black come together with moonlight ivory, and vibrant fuchsia. Rocky Star’s Spring Summer 2020 captures the moment of dusk, enveloped through design in textures, hues, embroidery, and movement.
