New York fashion week is arguably the numero uno fashion week in the world. Like the city, it is where dreams are woven, fortunes are made and names become icons.
I was lucky enough to attend the Badgley Mischka show for thread.co.nz and Moroccanoil; where indeed some of my dreams came true.
Badgley Mischka was launched in 1988, when Mark Badgley and James Mischka met at the Manhattan Parsons School of Design where they soon united and formed the label. In 1993 the pair moved into bridalwear where they maintain a strong foothold today. The New York label is the epitome of elegance and has been worn by such celebrities as Eva Longoria, Kate Winslet and Madonna, and the Olson twins and Sharon Stone fronting their last two campaigns.
Credited by the fashion heavyweights at Vogue as one of America’s top 10 designers, Badgley Mischka is known for its old Hollywood glamour with a New York twist. I especially love the flapper style sequin ensembles.
This year every seat in the house was filled with eager fashion-folk, celebs and of course, the press. It was most definitely one of the most exciting fashion shows I have been to.
Stay tuned because in the next few days I will release the full runway and behind the scenes pictures. I was lucky enough to be talked through the hair and make-up by the head stylist for Moroccanoil and Tom Pecheux for M.A.C.
