By C.J O'Harte
We are SO excited to present to our reader's a new monthly column: C.J's Fab Five by Australian Fashion Blogger C.J O'Harte. Every month C.J will look at five cool things he's into. Take a quick dive into their favourite things, find inspo or just take a nosey at some very cool, eclectic stuff.
1) My number 1 clothing item at the moment is this sweet King René’s Tournament Book Sweatshirt.

Recently I found myself wondering how to wear warm winter activewear in a classy way. Not like in a street way, but I have to go into the office and give a presentation to senior management, kind-of-way. At first I was thinking this would be a stretch but also maybe I could pull it off as long as I have an white linen shirt whose collar pops over the top… But that was until I found this beautiful online Japanese shop that does art-prints onto high quality comfy fits. I ended up very happy with my purchase.
I'm wearing it with a white linen shirt with oxford collar, but it also just totally pops with a skivvy underneath or as is. How do I know this? Why, from the compliments I have gotten of course!
The website has many other types of wearable art that I recommend you check out.

2) In second place for me top 5 is the Man Mani.

I recently discovered the man manicure. Where has this been all my life? I had been wanting to paint my nails again for the last year, but knew that I lacked the years of practice that the ladies have under their belts, so I opted for a manicure and have never looked back. Now I don’t need to be worried about getting nail polish everywhere and I am not chipping the polish and needing a redo within hours. Right now, I am a big fan of the pastels and off whites.
3 & 4) Coming in at three and four are Docs and long socks.
Firstly docs; I recently got into an argument at a party by a guy wearing black Timberland boots telling me that they were like a million times better than docs. However, when grilled on this he talked about functionality rather than style. Also, Timberlands don’t have the cultural cache that Docs do. Nor do they have the beautiful three hole version loved from everyone to boring office accountants to cool young architects, to old school punks.
When it comes to durable everyday shoes, the 3 hole never goes out of style. It is the slow fashion king of the indie shoe seen.
Recently I have been sporting the platform version, because chunky is in and also because height does matter boys, as much as I hate to say it.
Secondly socks. I really love the range at Uniqlo. I normally rock white or red depending on my outfit. White is standard but sometimes you gotta stand out from the herd. Also, ankle socks are for geriatric millennials or for the treadmill at the gym, otherwise, bin em’.
5) Rounding out my top 5 is having a good book.

I recommend reading Ottessa Moshfegh as her prose is exquisite, her pacing great, and her storylines are both funny and incisive. She is the arch-brat of contemporary women writers. If you don’t know where to start, start with My Year of Rest and Relaxation.
I have had quite a few people come up and start talking to me whilst reading a book and generally I am approached by interesting people. Most recently I was approached by a surf photographer - who was chasing the Big One! – who said he approached me because people who read books are much more interesting than people on their phones. Carry a book, people, but be warned, it's hard being popular!
Bon-Appetit!
