Release The Kraken: Nick Von K Unleashes Latest Collection

The Kraken collection includes a statement necklace; a giant solid sterling silver ring, plus a smaller, more easily wearable version too, drop earrings with a brilliant blue topaz, and sterling silver studs for everyday wear.

Nick Von K designed a Kraken pendant in his very first collection when he launched the brand back in 2010. “It’s a pirate ship being attacked by a giant octopus, and I thought it would be one of those designs
that only lasted one season, but due to its popularity we still produce it to this day”
he explains.

“It’s a pirate ship being attacked by a giant octopus, and I thought it would be one of those designs that only lasted one season, but due to its popularity we still produce it to this day” he explains.

The Kraken represents the ultimate sea beast that even the most fearsome of pirates feared, and the new Kraken collection makes a truly unique statement. “The Kraken is a symbol of high adventure, a true pirate accepts life comes with a risk – and the greater the risk, the greater the reward” enthuses Nick. Perhaps the Kraken is a metaphor to life, there’s always risk and potential devastation lurking underneath the surface, yet we choose to brazenly set sail regardless, leaving safe harbours behind for excitement and adventures unknown.
The pieces in the collection also pair up with the many of Nick’s other coveted octopus designs, including the well-loved Octo Pearl earrings and his ever-classic Octopus ring (now internationally renowned due to Taika Waititi’s love of it).

Nick has been designing and making jewellery since he was 18 years old. He first cut his professional teeth as jewellery designer for clothing brand Ricochet in 1999, and Nick worked in the brand for ten years. When Ricochet was sold at the end of 2009, he decided to start his own brand calling it Nick Von K. The name is in memory of his grandfather Peter Von Klarwill, a Jewish Austrian Baron who was fortunate enough to flee to New Zealand when the Nazis’ invaded. (Wow!)
