One of New Zealand's charities that is very dear to our hearts at Sans Pareil, is Ronald McDonald House.
On average each month, 357 families from across the country stay at a Ronald McDonald House® for 2,900 nights while their child is undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.
The Kareko-Tui’s, from Dargaville spent 273 nights at RMHC New Zealand when their brother and son Makai, born with Down syndrome, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, a cancer that affects his blood and bones and increases risk of infections, anaemia and bleeding. While he was treated, super-sibling Amani and mum Megan never left his side.
Amani (Makai’s sister) shares
her story on YouTube.
Megan (Makai’s mum)
tells her story on the RMHC website.
It costs $171 to house a family for one night, ensuring that they are warm, fed, supported and close to their child in a time of need.
For the month of June RMHC New Zealand needs you to join the fight to fund a night to keep families from your community together during their time of need.
Find out more at the Join the Fight website.
They have also created an Instagram Sticker as part of their campaign ‘I joined the fight to fund a night’. Post a picture with our GIF sticker (search RMHC on Instagram GIF’s), tag RMHC and nominate 5 friends to help join the fight.
Come on, team of 5 million, let's show our support!
