New York Fashion Week SS23 was last fortnight, and I've rounded up some of my highlights:
Diety - This feels so wearable, and I love the urban, grungy, yet a bit chic, feel to it. And the shoes add a great 90's touch!
Tory Burch - I was the dorkiest kid in the 1990's, so naturally I looked up to the cool Gen X'ers in their 90's fashions. Mesh is one of those fabrics I just can't get enough of, so a mesh top/skirt combo makes my vintage heart so happy.
Kim Shui - look, times are tough out there and we're all cutting back a bit, materials expensive.
Seriously though, I think this look by Kim Shui is clever and creative, and I love the shades of purple.
Mirror Palais - this is so goddess-like and elegant, and the shoes are perfect!
Of all the outfits at this show, this is the one I would pick to take home (where it would sit unworn because it's too good to wear).
Proenza Schouler - again, with the 90's vibes. I love the over-long sleeves (anyone else out there with short bodies and long limbs knows my pain!), and the shoes that match the fabric so well.
Altuzarra - I liked the dress as a fun, futuristic - but also kinda wearable - look, but then I got to the shoes and was like omg, what, no. No.
It's like, when you've spent too long getting your perfect outfit ready and you're just about done but your rides early, they're honking the horn and blowing up your Messenger with missed calls.
"I'M OUTSIDE! I'm about to leave!".
The shoes you planned to wear are nowhere in sight. "Fuck it", you say, "I'll wear the ones by the door I wear when I take the bins out".
We've all been there, right? Right?
Fe Noel - Catwalks can get a little dull and safe at times, so I love that Fe Noel is bringing the pizazz with this fun dress. It's like a duvet cover version of Scarlett O'Hara's curtain dress.
Puppets + Puppets - I hate when the chest of a dress is too low and you just don't know what to do with it. If you don't own a Cami Secret (As Seen On T.V!), why not slap some butterflies on it, like we did to houses in New Zealand in the 1950's - 80's.
I actually REALLY love the pattern and fabric, think the long-sleeves have gone maybe a bit too far.
What were your faves?
