Badgley Mischka Spring/Summer 2013 Collection
Hair by Peter Gray for Moroccanoil
Robecca Leyden starts a romance with Badgley Mischka at their New York fashion week show, held on 11th September 2012…
Being invited backstage by Moroccanoil at the Badgley Mischka show was one of the most exciting journalistic things I have done to date. So you can imagine how over the moon I was when, while standing backstage making notes, I was handed a pass to watch the runway show itself.
As I said in my last article on Thread, Badgley Mischka are known for their unique, old Hollywood glamour in evening and bridalwear. The theme for the show was the classic film version of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, so it seems only natural that the collection itself was something out of a dream.
One word to sum up the show: Romantic. Every garment was the very pinnacle of feminine beauty; angelic detailing, soft hues and sweeping cuts.
My picks (and it was SO hard to pick just a few) are as follows:
Below: This is simply stunning. The cut is extremely flattering (elongates the leg -you too can look like Angelina a la the Oscars) and that neckline is simply beautiful. In the words of Rachel Zoe, "I die".
Below: I love this look because of the simplicity. I am reminded of the Winter 2012 Louis Vuitton campaign; the cut makes me think of a glamorous 50’s movie starlet. The colour is that of a petal- it’s just so darn pretty.
Below: What is there to say about this gown that isn’t obvious? The cut, the colour, the delicate detailing…. I most definitely want to get romantically involved with this number.
Below: I’m not usually a fan of the Romanesque gown but this one can stay. The colour is (yet again) beautiful, would suit most hair and skin types and the cut is suburb. I love the simple elegance of it and then the bust and neckline come together and create this awesome sex appeal.
After watching the M.A.C make-up and hair by Moroccanoil being done, seeing the finished look on the catwalk was such a treat; each model bouncing down the runway with simple half-up dos cascading around their faces, complete with flowers and plaits – looked divine. The perfect complement to the collection as a whole; Peter Gray did an amazing job.
If I was getting married anytime soon and had a decent income (and/or credit-rating) I would get myself a Badgley Mischka gown. If I was really wealthy I would probably get the entire collection.
