Corona Diaries – Day 7 - Defiance
by Gregg Kelly (Scotland)
In spite of the blazing threat of torment, we stand in defiance, conversations begin and end 6 feet apart, gallows laughter is easy to find, however so is the inability to understand what’s at risk. The very essence of our treasured living.
Arrogant trolleys are still full of irrelevant irresponsibility, the irony of social distancing exists, while vehicles ride, as if trying to catch an exhaust to virus once in a life time experience.
Boris shuffling to the surface informed us that he had suc’cumming’ed to the deadly and contractually common outpouring of national support, Covid-19. Not too asymptomatic as one of his murdered hunt victims. Disappearing from existence, for at least as long as it would take to forget his inept shambles of regal ministerial duty.
The world mourns before Trump acts. Quarantine beckons. 31 million blink while the 100 plus billionaire shrugs.
Nonchalance increases, 1 week 2 days incarceration, but what is the price of freedom? Surely the price of life is seemingly priceless?
The danger no longer belongs to the grimmest of reapers, but the insolence of ignorance.
The mountain has yet to peak, the climbers yet to reach the pinnacle, and yet regardless they search for the last gasp of tainted oxygen.
Together we huddle, together we brace.
The weight of tomorrow looms heavily.
