The International Boat Show in Sanya China, has just come to an end. The New Zealand Pavilion, with over 100 square feet of exhibits on the theme of "Natural Lifestyle", was a popular attraction at this major international show with a focus on yachting. In addition to yacht-related exhibits, the Sanya International Boat Show also featured showrooms from the UK, Italy and New Zealand, showcasing marine-themed
fashion brands and high-quality products from these countries to professional visitors and yacht buyers and enthusiasts.
The New Zealand Pavilion was organised by Sans Pareil, the leading fashion media in New Zealand, and the New Zealand Specialty Brands Alliance, and included Jacqueline Anne, a high-fashion couture brand with a strong New Zealand cultural identity; Eden Orchards, a global 100% cherry juice brand; ROIMATAWE, a natural nutrition and skincare brand from Maori Natural Medicine; SUMMER+BLOOM, a New Zealand modern technology and fashion skincare brand; and HERFUME, a New Zealand creative brand. The NZ pavilion shows Chinese visitors a more dimensional New Zealand that is out of the ordinary and beyond the imagination.
Ms Susan, organiser of the New Zealand pavilion, says, "New Zealand's milk powder, fruit and Manuka honey are highly popular in the Chinese market and have a high profile and reputation. Chinese consumers' perception of New Zealand is also easily limited to this. The New Zealand Specialty Brands Alliance is committed to promoting more exquisite products and brands that are more distinctive and representative of the Southern Hemisphere New Zealand lifestyle, in addition to primary agricultural products. We hope to showcase a different New Zealand to global consumers and drive the development of New Zealand industries beyond primary agricultural products."
The show was a smash hit for outstanding designer and couture label Jacqueline Anne, shattering almost everyone's perception of the country's fashion industry. In fact, New Zealand will be hosting its annual Fashion Week in August this year. As one of the most influential fashion weeks in the southern hemisphere, the eponymous brand, founded by Jacqueline Anne, a renowned designer who returned to
New Zealand after years in the New York, Paris and Tokyo fashion scene, has always insisted on being handmade in New Zealand, with new collections touring the major international shows every year, and is highly sought after by the global fashion press and This is the first time that the brand has made its debut in Asia.
At the exhibition, Roimatawe invited Laurence Larson, a well-known New Zealand singer-
songwriter and brand spokesperson from New Zealand, who has a strong following in
China and New Zealand for his excellent singing style in English and Chinese on
Chinese variety shows. The young, handsome and stylish foreign face communicated
with the guests in Chinese and kindly took photos with them, making the New Zealand
Pavilion a popular spot for many audience members to take selfies and photos together.
Laurence Larson said he was delighted to be back in China in such a way as to introduce
New Zealand products and lifestyles to Chinese audiences, and that he enjoyed being a
bridge between New Zealand and Chinese culture and lifestyles.
Several MCN companies are interested in the New Zealand Pavilion SUMMER+BLOOM
brand range of skincare products that combine high technology with natural active
ingredients. New Zealand is known for its image as a high quality, natural country and is
a great supply chain partner base for creating quality brands.
This is the second time that Sans Prareil organised New Zealand brand and product promotion
tour in China, following the first test event in Shanghai last year, the "50th Anniversary of New
Zealand-China Diplomatic Relations". Susan, the organiser of the New Zealand pavilion, said she
hopes to participate in more exhibitions and events in China, and to organise and combine more
and better Kiwi owned brands and products to promote them in China and Asia, so that more
consumers can see the "different" New Zealand.
