DIY Mia Goth/ Maxxxine hair with the Lady Jayne Salon Pro Rechargeable 2 in 1

If you’re like me, and love a good horror franchise then you’ve probably heard of the Maxxxine franchise (Pearl, X, Maxxxine) starring Mia Goth. I love these films because they turn the helpless female trope on it’s head and viewers are presented with female rage at it’s most intense. The other thing I love about these films is the amazing hair and makeup by Jaime Leigh McIntosh (hair) and Sarah Rubano (Make-up).

I was sent the Lady Jayne Salon Pro Rechargeable 2 in 1 to try out, and I knew straight away that I wanted to recreate some of the iconic 70s inspired look Mia Goth sported in X. The 2 in 1 is under $120 (around is $119.00, thought you might be able to catch the Chemist Warehouse sale, with 40% off all Lady Jayne products) and a great, modern tool that’s easy to use and fully USB chargeable. AND wireless, which makes it great if you need to say, go to the bathroom to touch up your hair while out, or curl your hair at some odd angles (like me).

Let’s go through the steps I took to recreate her – I went for something in-between her 80s blonde volume from Maxxxine and 70s flick in X.

Pictured: 70s flick to the left, 80s volume to the right.

1.First, I ran a 50cent piece size of mousse through my hair, then I went through and straightened my hair in sections. I have naturally straight(ish) hair, so this helps define the curls and make them last longer.

2. Then I put large rollers in my hair and left for 2 hours, while the mousse dried and my hair set.

3. Next, I took out the rollers and sprayed a little hair spray (curls fall out of my hair fast, so if this isn’t you, then skip this step as it might be too much hairspray for your hair).

4. After that, I separated the curls with my fingers and went over any areas that needed more definition with the Lady Jayne Salon Pro, making sure to give extra attention to the pieces around my face. I love a messy 70s flick like Mia had in X, so I made sure to give this part correct. Which was easy with Salon Pro because it’s cordless.

Voilà! As easy as that – my Maxxxine transformation is complete. If this helped you, do let me know in the comments! Hopefully you’ll enjoy the Lady Jayne Salon Pro Rechargeable 2 in 1 as much I did.

Farrah Fawcett who?

Now go forth with great hair!
