Following up on Robecca's excellent coverage of the recent Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks, I thought I'd share 10 outfits I love from these weeks.
There were so many creative and unique designs, definitely some stand-out pieces to remember. I'm not going to rank them in any particular order, but these are 10 faves:
Pressiat
As a lover of hedgehogs and gothic fashion, this outfit by up and coming designer Pressiat absolutely speaks to me.
Versace -
Versace are one of the classic, iconic fashion labels and I am a big fan. This collection is hit and miss for me (I personally don't dig the oversize blazers), but my pick is the mini skirt with belt.
Depetsa
This outfit made me think of the idea of a classic painter or sculptor, say Botticelli, trying to create their masterpieces in this modern day and age, trying to show a woman in all her beauty but also trying not to upset our modern sensibilities. Trying to show her feminine form, but conscious to cover the parts that both intrigue and offend us.
I don't know if any of this was the designers intention, just something I read into it when I saw it. What do you think about it?
Courrèges
The golden age of rock is long behind us now, but this fun piece by Courrèges captures an era while also bringing it into a modern time (pockets that fit a cell phone are an outfit must-have now, aren't they?).
Stella McCartney
This bold orange slip by Stella McCartney is simple but eye-catching, and I love how she's kept it super dressed down in sneakers and a small purse, allowing it to really speak for itself.
I'm not a fan of the 'clutter' in this years shows, all the unnecessarily bulky, ill-fitting outfits so as a personal choice this is more up my alley. Sleek and feminine.
Bottega Veneta
I just want to reach out and touch it! It's kinda got a 'dressing gown meets coat' vibe going on and while I wouldn't wear it, I think it's an interesting look.
Marni
This has such a dishevelled, Mad Hatters Tea Party gone wild, Marla Singer meets Courtney Love look, I love it!
Versace (yes, again)
Versace is worthy of two mentions in my top 10! Quite a different look this time.
I like clothes and outfits that feel cohesive and wearable, so this appeals to me more than the random 'threw everything in my wardrobe on at the same time' look that seems to be popular right now.
Moschino
I love floaty, feminine fabrics, so the skirt part is perfect! And top is.. odd but creative and fun.
Fendi
I love 90's inspired fashion and I definitely this cute see-through slip would have been perfect for Rose McGowan. The FENDI branding all over it is so bougee but on trend.
