London-based Gung Ho collaborates with The Worldwide Tribe to release a collection highlighting the issues surrounding displacement and the need for social change.
The collaboration is not only present through the stories within the print design of the garments, but is modelled by founder of The Worldwide Tribe Jaz O’Hara, her mother Oeda O’Hara and her two foster refugee brothers Mez and Bego. This shoot brings together their journey and is shot at their home, where it all started in Kent, as well as the seafront in Hastings, along the stretch of coastline where many end up when crossing over from France.
10% of the profits from this collection will go back to The Worldwide Tribe.
Born from a simple idea that your fashion choices often create your first impression, GUNG HO uses clever illustrative prints to tell important stories in a range of stylish colourways. The garments allow you to wear not only what you love, but also what you believe in.
This year, Gung Ho Founder, Sophie Dunster, has taken inspiration from The Worldwide Tribe to create a collection of bold prints that highlight the humanity behind world issues, inspire global community and leave a legacy of positive, social change.
The Worldwide Tribe uses creative storytelling to bring a personal, human perspective to the issues that people want to know about while investing in grassroots projects that make a direct difference to the lives of those in need - and a partnership with Gung Ho was a natural match.
All pieces are handmade locally in London using sustainable fabrics. The main collection is exquisitely handcrafted from regenesis light satin, a fabric made from upcycled plastic bottles that feels like 100% silk. It comprises four styles across three colourways: a feminine blouse, dress, jumpsuit, and kimono - complementing the best-selling organic sweatshirt line. This collection is available to pre order throughout May and will be in stock in August. This way, you can get a garment made especially for you, ensuring less waste with a personal service. We believe this production process is the future of the fashion industry. Any excess fabric will be made into zero waste accessories or upcycled to a new Gung Ho Reworked collection crossing upcycled Gung Ho pieces with vintage. Gung Ho Reworked launches later this summer.
