I went down to the Crown Casino complex, to check out the new RAOUL summer 2011 range that will be hitting stores soon.
RAOUL is a relatively new, Singapore brand which has been gaining esteem in the international scene and was a 2011 WGSN International Fashion Awards finalist for the “breakthrough brand” category.
With the beautiful structure and cuts of their garments one can see why they were nominated. Colours for this upcoming season are pastel blues and pinks and greens, matched with one tone or prints. Summer will also be heavily inspired by the 70s; think halternecks, maxis and structure.
My favourite pieces (see pictures below) were the Chained halter maxi dress in black ($479.00), the Belted navy summer cape ($399.00) and the Wrap over Maxi dress ($579.00). All three have beautifully flattering cuts, and the cape is one of the best capes I have seen around this season (and trust me, I’ve been looking.) The fabric reminds me a bit of something Karen Walker would produce.
With only the one store in Oceania (lucky Melbourne!) it is still a boutique on this side of the world. If you’re in the area and want some unique pieces that can translate from sophisticated daywear through to evening and even black tie, I highly recommend you check this shop out.
I had a bit of a try on and here are my favourite three pieces.
