Alexander McQueen was (and still is!) best known for his stunningly elegant, but often dark and gothic, fashions. His designs often included big, dramatic dresses, often with a romantic gothic vibe. Unsurprisingly, a lot of celebrities are big fans, including Lady Gaga.

Here are some of our fave Alexander McQueen looks:

1 – Flamingo inspired dress, as worn by Lady Gaga.

The incomparable Lady Gaga wore this stunning and elaborate gown on the red carpet

2 – Red and Black Gown, this is a darkly elegant piece that is so typical of McQueens style

3- Red Wedding Cape – Giving such Queen Amadala vibes, this very dramatic piece, complete with headpiece was right up McQueens alley!

4 – Blood-soaked Bride – classic Romantic Goth fashion as it’s peak!

5 – Oyster Dress – this famous dress from 2003 is one of his best known, made of hundreds of layers of organza and silk. An absolute masterpiece!

6 – Kate Middletons Wedding Dress – Probably one of the most widely-seen wedding gowns of our generation.

Kate Middleton frequently wears Alexander McQueen clothing, and his designers created her wedding dress from 2011.

7 – ‘Sarabande’ – this iconic piece from 2007 is full of incredible details

8 – Plato’s Atlantis, 2010 – Though many of McQueens fashions are reminiscent of times gone by, he was also a big fan of technology, and embraced using revolutionary technology in his work whenever he could.

In this 2010 show, he used live streaming (which wasn’t common then), as well as 3D printing to create shoes inspired by Giger’s ‘Alien’ creations.
