Mumma J's is an adorable skincare line from Auckland City, made entirely from natural, ethical ingredients and lovingly handcrafted. We’ve previously featured Mumma J's on Sans Pareil, so if you’d like to discover more about Mumma J's and Julie, click the link. In this article I wanted to do a bit more a dive into the range of products.
There is quite a full range - all of which you can find at local markets (follow the facebook page) and website - so I'm going to stick to my absolute favourites. I do recommend checking out everything though, because when asked about why there are so many products Julie states;
someone will talk to me about an issue they’re having, and if I don’t have something already in the range, then I’ll think about creating something new.
Which I REALLY love. One of the essential elements of a successful product is identifying and fulfilling a genuine need. This philosophy is at the core of Mumma J's mission: to help others. Now, let's look at some of the products I love!
P.S - Because you honestly need to try some gorgeous Mumma J's skincare, there have a giveaway happening over on the Sans Pareil social media! To win a a Cleansing Set - valued at $175, head over and enter.
These three below: Night Oil, Facial Toner and Green Tea & Honey Facial Cleanser have become part of my bedtime hygiene routine. I start with the cleanser which is delicious - containing raw honey, green tea cleanser, avocado oil and soapwort. Then I spray the toner to close pores and is very refreshing! lastly I use the Night Oil - which I ESPECIALLY LOVE. The smell is divine, infused with a blend of nourishing Jojoba oil and essential oils. It is designed to soothe and hydrate your skin while you sleep. Its calming and relaxing aroma will help with falling asleep. As someone with chronic insomnia - I'm not saying it solves insomnia but it relaxes me more than night-time melatonin. 10/10 highly recommend.

Next, I want to mention the Face Serum because it's also fantastic. Containing Bakuchoil ( an alternative to Retinol, think nature's version) that can help reduce skin discolouration as well as reducing fine lines and wrinkles. Squalene for regeneration and creating a protective and moisturising barrier on skin. Also Copaiba Oil which helps to reduce inflamed skin, psoriasis and eczema. I especially liked how this evened out my skin tone.

If you have any issues like scars, grazes dry skin, eczema, itchy bites or a mirid of other ailments; I present to you the Healing Balm. Before I go any further into it's greatness, remember that I'm not a doctor and if the ailment is serious - see a doctor. Always see a doctor. Ok, so this stuff is great. Because my partner likes to run around on a soccer filed twice a week, he often comes home with scrapes, bruises (and a broken leg one time but let's not go there) so I decided to use the Healing Balm on one such graze.

I was very happy with the results. His elbow healed faster than usual and completely by-passed that kind-of-healed-but-the-skin-is-rough stage.

Lastly I wanted to talk about the Facial Exfoliator. This great little product contains shea butter, water, vegetable glycerin, emulsifying wax, and pumice, it gently removes dead skin cells and impurities while deeply moisturizing and hydrating. I once read somewhere that you can tell the quality of a exfoliator by the size of the rough bits. The smaller better because you don't want to actually tear the skin. The texture should feel something like soft sand. As you can see from the images below, the texture is very micro and the exfoliating leaves skin hydrated like in the final image.
